I'm feeling doing some redesigns for funsies! Like a character but think they need a bit more Spice? Or that their design doesn't fully work for them? Or maybe even just into the hell that is oversexualised women design for no reason? Send it over and I'll redesign them to the best of my ability! All you have to do is: -Send the character name -What media they come from -Why do you think they need a redesign -Image of their canon appearance
What I got so far: -Ayaka from Genshin Impact (Design feels a bit too "meh" according to friend) -Bennet from Genshin Impact (they just wanted to see what i'd do with him lol) -Rin from Project Sekai - Nightcord Version (feels a bit lackluster compared to nightcord Miku) -Rayfa Padma Khura'in from Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice

OH THIS IS SUCH A FUN IDEA..... might i suggest redesigning rayfa padma khura'in from ace attorney: spirit of justice? She's a princess and she does look the part but I really just don't like her outfit LOL the dress is uncomfortably short and weirdly skin tight (shes like, 14) she also has dancing animations in the game that don't mesh well with the outfit at all (the cape is super stiff and bc of how short her dress is theres a lot of Almost upskirt shots that im pretty sure were not intentional but unfortunate nonetheless) but even putting all that aside it just feels like its missing Something >__> these are some of her concept arts if you want some direction (or not!) here's her actual design:

Yeah I can definitely do that! I'm curious though, do you know what culture her nation in game is based on? I can't seem to really find anything, but I'd like to have an idea so I can do some accurate research to find some inspiration!

bird there isn't one particular cultural inspiration i think. It's mostly an unfortunate mishmash of several different asian areas. The fictional country she's from is supposedly "located in the Eastern Himalayas between China, India, Nepal, and Bhutan." And that's all there really is to go off of.

lentlsoup astraldreams AUGH I KNOW... RAYFA... She has a wealth of concept designs in the artbooks (many more than most other characters she shares a game with), and it's like they picked one of the most lack-luster ones out of ALL of them. The ones Len linked aren't even all of them - she has two more pages of concepts, here and here. I think that the first page of concepts is probably when they were envisioning her older than they ultimately decided to make her look in the game - the short dress they gave her is probably a choice made to make her look younger and girlier, as opposed to like, a belly dancer on stiletto heels. AA isn't great about female character designs, but I think even they wouldn't do a 14-year old like that. And - Rayfa could've had pants, but I think what we were really robbed off the most was her melanin LMAO. bird I've got some extra stuff to share for Rayfa if you want any more context/stuff to work with (besides the remainder of her concept art above), do with that whatever you will, though. I'll also put it under a spoiler just in case, but there shouldn't be any spoilers for the game or anything that isn't already mentioned/shown within the demo. {Spoiler} - Rayfa is butterfly-themed! The little cape she wears is meant to resemble butterfly wings, and the reason the connected sleeves on her outfit come back between different concepts is that spirits in this game are depicted as butterflies with connected hind wings, which ties back to her role in the game being related to spirit stuff. It's also pretty poorly animated - you can watch a video here if you want to see. Part of it is just the limitations of the 3DS graphics, but her clothes probably didn't need to look as stiff as they do, especially the sash... Also her legs clip through her skirt at some parts. Either way, if you'd like to keep some of her original theming, you could see what you can do with the butterfly thing.
- She lives in a fictional South-Asian country, so they took inspiration from several different places and didn't stick to one specific cultural image - but the locations in the game look like they could have been directly lifted from photos of Bhutan, in particular. Fashion styles seem similar to Bhutan or Nepali fashion as well. Here's another early-game character dressed in brightly patterned clothes, and here's a background art showing some of the architecture. A lot of the religious imagery in the game resembles Hindu and Buddhist imagery (in that order, I think) - so if you're looking to do research, you could probably start there.
- We Were Robbed Of Brown Rayfa Because Capcom Suck's Ass
EDIT: Pics might be broken on mobile? :( But they should work on PC
