What do you think about art challenges like inktober, huevember, mermay, etc? Do you participate in them or not? Why or why not? I see a lot of ambivalence towards challenges like these, like one half of people saying that they curb enthusiasm and creativity because people stress out about needing to join them to jump on the hype train, and on the other side people genuinely look forward to them and love to participate. I myself participate in inktober each year and haven't missed a year for the past... 5 years now i think? Even if I don't do everything in october, I manage to finish every day of the challenge each year eventually, and I go out of my way to plan what "theme" i'll draw that year to spice it up and keep it fresh. I'm the only person i know that gets excited for inktober and participates in it to this extent, so I'm curious about how the rest of the Corns feel about art challenges like that and similar ones.

i adore inktober. i do it every year and in both 2020 and 2021 i drew every single day! it's just a bonus to be able to do that, it's still enjoyable to do a few drawings even if i don't finish the 31 days. i understand why people stress out about them and feel pressured; even though i think they're great for inspiring you and learning new things; it's easy to obsess over ~productivity~ instead of seeing it as for fun which is a shame because personally i think; at the core of these art challenges is to have fun. my energy can only withstand one challenge per year though and inktober is my fav so it's the one i do even if i like others.

I love them in concept, one year a long while ago I managed to do two of them at one time (two drawings a day, one for kinktober and one for goretober) but also more recently I tend to get too overwhelmed by the vagueness of the different prompts in most monthlong art challenges? But I love to see what other people do with them, even if I can never finish the challenges myself!
