I dont even know if this is a thing most people pay attention to but I love looking at movie posters... Some movie posters are just really cool and well put together and sell the movie immediately because they just look so cool and interesting, you know? Making a good movie poster that captures the attention of people while at the same time capturing the Essence of the movie is really hard to do, I think. A lot of movies nowadays tend to lean into group shots of all the characters/actors posed in a cool way or a close up of the main character instead of doing something more creative or interesting that captures the theme/feeling of a movie which is kind of a shame. Well done Photography shots are great but I especially love the movie posters that are drawings/illustrations. One of my favourite movie posters has to be this alternate poster for the movie Parasite, but this version was only used in the UK.
{Spoiler} It sets an unsettling tone and atmosphere and shows a clear divide between two different families, and also implements the movie's consistent motif of stairs as a metaphor for high class/low class families in a way thats interesting visually. There's other neat details in the poster that hint to other symbolism in the movie but I don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't seen it lol its a really good movie.
Anyways what's Your favourite movie poster? (or one that at least stood out to you a lot?)

ONE OF MY FAVORITE IMAGES EVER is the poster for Kiki's Delivery Service. I love that movie so very much and especially this poster because the flying shots are gorgeous. I also think it really captures the sense of wonder and curiosity but also comfiness that the movie radiates. it manages to use a mostly cool-toned color palette and still appear very light and warm and youthful. love it very much. {Here it is!}

Both of these are really nice... the Parasite one especially is so impressive with its visuals. Also not to be somewhat basic, but I do really like this Kill Bill poster... the colors and framing of it are just very cool :]
{Spoiler} Also I've never actually seen this movie, but the german poster for Poltergeist is. Cool. I have no deep reasoning for this, it's just fun. {Spoiler}

@penn - OH I LOVE THAT.... it looks so delightful and gives off a sort of adventurous feel but in a way thats cozy and not bombastic if that makes sense? I have never actually watched kiki's delivery service in full (ive seen bits and pieces and know just about everything that happens in it though) but i really should sit down and watch it sometime...
@orion - THE KILL BILL POSTER IS SOOO SICK everything from the pose to the colour scheme to the typography just hits right.... the mostly yellow bg with a single black stripe that reflects the bride's clothes and the red line that leads to a bloodstain that follows the line of the sword and leads the eye to the credits at the bottom left is so smart and effective.... Love It. Also the lightning splitting the text in the poltergeist poster is a fun detail. I like the limited colour palette, it really helps to lead the eye from the text to the town by making the lightning stand out even more.

YES YES YES those are very much the vibes of the movie its so very good ;___; definitely worth a watch esp for ppl trying to pursue creative endeavors. there's a lot i resonate with in the story so its one of my fave ghibli films.

As a graphic design student I really like looking at this type of stuff, even if it's for movies I've never seen! So here are some that I like :] Btw this is my first time using the spoiler feature on here so I hope this works fine
{Spoiler}{Poster 1} Already starting off with a movie I've never fucking seen. Absolutely obsessed with the contrast between pitch blackness and the white dress. It's just such a good photography. CW for unsettling imagery (mainly sharp object directed at an eye and a really bloodshot eye)
{Spoiler}{Poster 2} Again with the super cool contrast!!! It's also such a cool way to use typography and have it interact with the subject! Never watched the movie. Just a really cool poster. {Spoiler}{Poster 3} Ok this time let's go with one I actually saw! Perfect Blue's poster is excellent both artwork wise (it is just gorgeous) and symbolism wise! It's filled with so many little details related to the movie, and while usually simplicity is better to be more eye catching, here it really translates the chaos of the movie imo. Btw, if you want to watch this movie look up a complete trigger warning list as it can be a really hard watch!!!

bird Man oh MAN perfect blue was bought for me WAAAAAY before I should have ever watched it and it's a good thing I didn't when I was that young because hoo boy it's a trip of a psychological horror/thriller that I've seen live action movies fail to meet the pure suspenseful energy of and here are a couple posters I really like! Michael (1996) Gotta say this movie is great and it's one of my favorites! And I like the framing of this poster, it's simple, but it tells so much about the story, how the archangel Michael's been living on earth as a semi-normal guy for a while, hiding his wings under his coat :] also the dog is always pestering him throughout the movie so it tugging on his coat is cute :] On a total different end of the movie-feel spectrum, Deadpool 2 (though the first Deadpool movie had a similarly styled movie poster, I'm soft for Domino and Shatterstar and they're in this one so shhh) Honestly? It's the art style for me on this one. Unlike most big name superhero movie posters, where the cast is all photoshopped into a scene together to show off the star power of the cast, this one's taken the cast and drawn them in semi-realistic fashion, but with a still noticably comic book feel, suitable for a comic book movie! :]

bird ALL THOSE ARE SO GORGEOUS ?? i love how the first two posters are predominantly black so the focus on the subject is super dramatic.... especially in the second one with the way the typography leads to the subject it looks so cool and sinister... and i love how the perfect blue poster feels so melancholic. It's been a while since i saw that movie ( i watched it Way younger than i should have ) but i can Feel the vibes from the art and the way her skin fades into obscurity. god damb eggsbenedict OH IVE SEEN MICHAEL ONCE like a super long time ago it was so funny and sweet T-T i like how the poster looks like, an actual poster with the pins on the corners making it look like its being pinned on a wall for display. i don't remember enough of the movie to know what the significance of that is in the context of what happens but i do remember the dog :) and youre RIGHT films should do away with group shots of the cast together it can be cool but the way that they're usually done especially in superhero movies is just so boring... i can feel the Vibes of the movie from that deadpool poster and if this were photographed it would have a completely different feel! it actually reminds me of another movie poster I like, The Shape of Water
It's hand drawn with pencil which gives it a nice storybook feel (which makes sense for the movie because it feels like an Adult fairy tale) but it also taps into a certain subplot in the movie, one of the main characters is an artist that hand draws advertisements for businesses, but the movie is set in the time period where photography was just beginning to rise in popularity and his work is tossed aside and undervalued because the people he works for no longer see the value in his art when they can just use photography for their ads now anyways. so the fact that the poster for the movie is done traditionally feels very fitting and sweet :)

kanonv03 you’re right Omg the vibes of this are so good… I have no idea what this movie’s about but I get a really calm and nostalgic vibe from it especially from the dull blue to soft pink gradient :) I also really enjoy how they made the t look like a cassette tape that's so fun
