I feel like a lot of times I see people talk about their art, or drawing in general, there's a lot of focus on what they struggle with or don't like drawing, but I'd like to flip that!!
What do you just love drawing? It doesn't even have to be anything you consider yourself particularly good at- just, what makes you really happy? :3
I really like drawing fairylights! They're one of my absolutely favfav things to add in backgrounds of pictures, I think it really ties a room together plus playing with the light effects is fun!!
I also do really enjoy drawing hands- I hardly ever actually do it, but I think it's super fun. Hand studies is one of the main things I'm planning to do more of in the near future!
Also, glasses. I wear glasses myself and a lot of my characters do too, so I've been drawing them a lot. But also, they're just really fun! You can have shapes! It can be really helpful to form a face, too!! Two top-tiers here are spiral glasses, and drawing a character's eyes just as two dots while wearing glasses, and then very detailed whenever they take them off. It's funny.
Finally, I just really enjoy geometric shapes :3 Just some fucken circles. Maybe a triangle for flavour. Designs that are just some shapes are among my top most favourite! They can be helpful for conveying tone in character design too, but also I really just think they're fun LMAO.
So, what about you guys? :3 Also, if you'd like to share em, I'd love to see some examples from your art as well!! (I'll be editing my own post to include some as well once I'm on my laptop and actually have access to pictures lol)

also i REALLY love rendering lighting and shadows!! especially if the image has a lot of high-contrast glow, like a dark background/base color on a character with some glowing neon highlights!! i dont do rlly fancy rendering a Ton these days but thats mostly bc id get burned out real fast if i polished every image i make to absolute perfection, but i still love doing it whenever the urge strikes me :]

also. paws and big ol claws on various creatures. Big Meaty Murdermitts We can tell. LMAO. You're our resident pawfeet artist! My favorite things to draw are bodies, especially the torso, stomach and legs! If I'm just absent-mindedly doodling, bodies is my go-to thing to draw. I think it's probably pretty obvious from some of my art that everything else in the picture was kind of an afterthought to just drawing a body in a funny shape and pose. I also really like to draw exaggerated and cartoony lineart - linearting is probably my favorite part of rendering a full picture, even though I... often don't actually have the patience for it. Funny how that works! Here's a picture I had a lot of fun with drawing: (warning for cartoon blood and eyestrain)

Man I've been thinking about it for a while and I don't think I actually know tbh... I Probably have certain things I enjoy drawing but I've never actually sat down to think about it consciously or even realized what those specific things are. Honestly I just enjoy drawing whatever comes to my mind in general, the process of realizing something from my head is equal parts exciting and frustrating bc it doesn't always go the way i want but i love it all the same. I'm looking at my past art to try to see if there's a pattern of things I draw more or had more fun drawing than others and I can't pick it out. A good chunk of wips I have that I haven't finished or posted are scenes from dreams I've had but other than maybe I draw a lot of girls? Sure. My favourite thing to draw is girls.

Maybe slightly off-topic, but I feel like sometimes people have less of a favorite subject to draw, and more a favorite process or material to draw with? For example, you do a lot of inks each year - though I don't know if it's because you actually enjoy inking and inking techniques (like crosshatching, coloring in with inks, whatever) or just that you're really married to finishing inktober each year. Still, if oyu can't think of a specific subject, maybe there's something in the process you really like. If I had to make an informed guess what your favorite things to draw are, it'd probably be shitposts and funny comix though. It's a constant, too - I met you because of AAI2 shitposts. You've made lodes of ones for your OCs, a whole bunch of Shovel Knight, TGAA...

SOOOOO TRUE YOURE RIGHT I DO LOVE TO DRAW FUNNIES..... it didn't really occur to me because i was mostly trying to think of a concrete/tangible thing i like to draw, and shitposts/funnies are more situational and vary a lot depending on context. Also wrt inktober i think its a little bit of both LOL i do genuinely enjoy inking and have a lot of fun doing it, but i also enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of completing each day every year. I wouldn't do it every year if i didn't actually enjoy doing inktober in the first place though LOL
Besides inktober, i think other processes i enjoy doing would be messy painting/colouring? I think its just neat and and i like how loose the end product turns out but at the same time i dont think im exactly good at it like i feel like im still too uptight with how i draw + trying super hard to get things to look "right" and i want to work more on just not caring if that makes sense LOL i think i could get a lot more art done that way

This is probably very obvious KHLKHSKF but my favorite thing thing to draw is fantasy characters. I love the dnd and the magics and the gems and the pretty outfits and really anything that glows. on that same note, i LOVE rendering, it is my fave part of the process even tho it takes forever KHLKFHFKSLFJS I think it really brings my art to life and I think most people would say that it's a defining feature of my style. it's interesting how some of the things I struggle with the most have become the things I'm best at, according to others. Probably because I'm so conscious of making them good. Goes to show that a little effort can go a long way.

Big Meaty Murdermitts I LOVE YOUR PAWS AND EXPRESSION POSES... Your art is always so fun to look at, and super tangible too I love to see your Jamie drawings especially, because with him you really go ham on claws And paws And expression And poses. It's clear to see you're having fun with it ^___^ also i REALLY love rendering lighting and shadows!! especially if the image has a lot of high-contrast glow, like a dark background/base color on a character with some glowing neon highlights!! i dont do rlly fancy rendering a Ton these days but thats mostly bc id get burned out real fast if i polished every image i make to absolute perfection, but i still love doing it whenever the urge strikes me :] Oh, I felt that... I'm glad you're taking care not to overwork yourself, but whenever you do draw the lightings it's a treat to see. Your Savu/Neva dancing art comes to mind here especially, it's one I think about a lot. Funny how that works! Here's a picture I had a lot of fun with drawing: (warning for cartoon blood and eyestrain) I really really like how you draw bodies It's super clear from your art as well that it's something you enjoy, I think... You have a really good grasp on shapes and how to bend and break them to achive the best effect!! It's something I want to do more in my own art as well, and yours is always very inspirational to me for that. You are the bodies guy. And that drawing is so cool... I've said this before when I first saw it, but I lovelovelove the colors and framing here so much. Thank you for sharing!! I LOVE your funnies I'm glad you're having fun drawing them as well, I think drawing just whatever pops into your mind is a really good way to approach things also... Biglarge handshake on the messy painting too, it's soooo fun but I tend to overthink it It's deffo something that gets easier with time and practise though, and I'm very excited to see more of your paintings >:3 Also, this isn't 100% related but something that always stands out to me in your art is how you draw eyes and faces in general... It has a really nice feel and expressiveness to it and is one of the most stand-out things about your art to me, I see a Len face/expression and I get happy. One piece that especially comes to mind is that drawing of the very intense lady (I don't remember which character anymore ) from last inktober, that really stuck with me. YES... YES!!! It definitely shows in your art how much you enjoy these things, yes!! Really shines through in your pieces, especially the care with which you render... Every day I think about that one burger drawing you made, I think it's the first time I ever saw you posting WIPs and seeing it all come together was super impressive.
Also I love your dnd and magics love and light. Your fantasy character designs are always a blast to see, I really like the outfits you give them especially... It's not something I do very often myself, because I tend to not have the patience for it, but intricate and cool clothing is one of my alltime favourite things in art and seeing yours is always really cool and inspiring astraldreams your fave thing to draw being fairylights makes a lot of sense to me :0 your art always gives me a cozy feeling, and i associate fairylights with that!! just a kinda peaceful and homey vibe :D
WAWAH I'M GLAD YOU THINK SO... ^v^ It's definitely what I'm going for, I'm happy it comes across ;__; Originally I started adding them to almost all my pieces that had an indoors background partially just because I was really only drawing pieces with indoors backgrounds for secret santa exchanges and such and it seemed thematically appropriate But then I realized it was really fun in general, and since then if I have a chance to add some fairylights, I Will. For serotonin. Alternative some snow or nightsky will do as well, but fairylights' are really where my heart is at ^_^

I do it with other ppl's art too I've got so many thoughts all the time KHFKLSHLKFS i've been making an effort to be more free about it tho and I think it pays off in my sketches :D the burger drawing is one of my faves,,, i want to eat,,,, a borger that good,,,, one day I will make that borger irl and then its over for all of us. food will be solved forever and AAAA im so glad you like my character designs. That's actually a great example of what I meant by other ppl thinking I'm good at things I struggle with JGDJKGKFS I have a very hard time dressing my characters! I almost never have to look up refs for anatomy any more, but making clothes from my head? a herculean task. fucking impossible. i give everyone a button up or a suit and nothing else KHKLSFHKLSFLK its good to know the extra work I put in pays off tho ALSO I think you should add fairylights to every scene, even if there's no logical place to put them. as a treat. who's gonna stop you?
