Welcome to the Forum!

After a long few weeks of hard work, I can finally show you the fruits of our labor; the official NIGHTCORNER Forum! The forum is not quite yet public - you and your fellow forum-goers are part of a closed beta group, and registration is restricted until we're ready to show it to the world.

I'm sure you have lots of questions, such as, "now why in the world would there be a NIGHTFORUM," or "what's with the little guys under the title of this thread?" so besides giving you the biggest, warmest welcome, this thread also serves to offer you some explanation, and for you to ask any questions you may have.

While I really enjoy Discord's structure, I realized that most of what I like about it is the ways in which it's similar to a forum, and most of what I dislike about it is the ways in which it's not. So I thought - "what could be better than this?" and the answer was "a forum".

While people in the server had pretty different feelings on whether they were interested in a forum, I think it'll help the NIGHTCORNER community grow - it should offer more space for people to have ongoing conversations, give more room for feedback on artwork or advertising paid work without it being real-time sensitive, give us a place to store information related to events (as opposed to a growing maze of google docs), and preserve past events without those causing clutter like they do on Discord.

No. It will serve as an addition to the server. We plan to run future events primarily through the forum, and otherwise, using it is completely optional.

As you might have noticed, the forum is a little bit empty... and missing some bits and pieces here and there... and admittedly a little bit ugly. We have bigger plans with it - we'd like to do a full layout overhaul at some point, add and improve features, and so on - but for now our first priority is making sure it works. And it won't without some people to use it! You're here to help us test if everything works as intended, offer feedback that'll help us make it better, and to bring in your vibes. With your help, we can make this a fun and welcoming community before we let the others join, so please use the forum to your heart's content!

You're the first members to join, so nobody's had the chance to post anything before you yet. It's up to you to make them look less empty!

Discussion boards aside, there are a few boards where there isn't much to see yet, but aren't for posting in. Games & Events is for official events (such as the Mixchange, contests, gift exchanges, official collabs...) and will start seeing activity soon! And the Published Work board is reserved for the things I make; it'll later have a dedicated sub-board to my comic, and I'll post other things I publish in there too, like games and writing. I have never made anything before I have made things before that could go in there, but I'd like to start it off fresh and with some newer work, and then see about backlogging older projects in there afterwards.

You should read the Forum Rules if you haven't yet, and you could make an introduction in Welcome! Other than that... you can pretty much do whatever you want! Start using the forums, have fun, and feel free to tag me if you need an adult. There's a whole team of moderators ready to help you with anything, and if you run into anything that looks weird, is unintuitive, or could be better, let us know in the Feedback thread!

PS: we'll be running a special mini-event just for the closed beta testers very soon, so keep an eye out for that!!!
