Hello i'm luna! a lot of people might not know me cuz i have trouble keeping up with bigger discord servers orz, but i wanna try to be more active. i still remember the first time i interacted with robbie was in like 2014 actually (on pokefarm) which is insane umm i just turned 23 on january 10, i'm a genderless lesbian who uses any pronouns, and i love a variety of things like: project sekai + vocaloid, puyo puyo quest, persona 3, umineko, other visual novels, and rpgmaker pixel games about murder. i sometimes draw in short bursts (like artfight) but it's been really hard for me lately :pensive: also i love my puyo puyo quest ocs twitter: kyukurarin toyhouse: noroi artfight: Labrys discord: luna#5379 as of writing this i'm also obsessed with playing a neopets clone my friend felix is making at virtu.pet. it's missing a lot of features but its still really fun and if anyone else wants to join hes considering applications :-) please look at my little guyalso umm here are some of my ocs because i love them (images link to their respective artists)    ok thats all bye <3 nice to meet everyone! |

@ astraldreams - hi its nice to meet you too and thank you so much!! oh wow that is really close to mine..just one day older than me...ONE! @ robbie - thank you and im glad for that too T_T pokefarm had so much fking drama i was on the sidelines of a lot but i didnt know you got involved in it too?! did it have to do with the art side of pokefarm or smth? @ faye - its nice to meet you too! i just have a hard time talking in places i dont know a lot of people cuz im shy orz also thank you....i am so attached to my venus flytrap guy and i frankly have way too many pictures of them LMFAO... heres their toyhouse gallery if anyone is interested (i also commed robbie for him once ^_^) @ lentil - I REMEMBER THE FIRST REALIZATION TOO it was so funny. i miss the twewy server sometimes im glad to see you around again! and thank you :sob: also @ people applying for virtupet, just so you know my friend might take a while getting to applications cuz i think he's getting a lot and wants to finish implementing a few things first, but i hope you have fun whenever you get in <3 and check your spam folder too cuz apparently the acceptance emails get sent there sometimes |

YEAH... I made a bunch of gen6 sprites from scratch at the time, as a free to use resource for people who liked to do sprite edits (and just because I enjoy doing pixel art). I guess the staff noticed, and they asked me to do official art for PFQ - but they first wanted me to go through a whole trial before deciding if I was suited for it, which boiled down to drawing fanart for the mods and already some site assets - you know, before actually giving me a position as an artist for PFQ? Besides that obviously being a little weird, they also didn't actually give me all that much information about what I could expect of helping them with the website, so I contacted a previous staff member about their experiences with it. I just wanted to know some basic things like, if this was a paid position or a volunteer position, how contact with other staff members was usually done and what I should expect from that. I did also draw all the trial art they asked for, and handed it in with a huge watermark over it. Then they found out that I'd asked questions about the position, and got SUPER mad at me, partially because I didn't ask them directly (which I suppose was somewhat fair - I was supposed to keep it a secret they were considering me I think), but I think also in a very large part that I'd asked if I would be financially compensated for it. Like it was unthinkable that I wasn't desperate to make free art for them and I should have been flattered they considered me for it at all. I don't think I really talked about it anywhere publicly at the time - unlike the staff from then, I DO have some sense of professionalism, but it's a large part of the reason I stopped being around on PFQ. I like the game and I enjoyed the forums, but the staff's behavior was very off-putting to me, and also at that point personally insulting. |

@ robbie - hello?? yeah given all the crap i know about the staff (WHICH IS A LOT. i could go on for hours about pfq staff) it doesn't surprise me at all that they'd expect you to want to work for free. but jesus 😭 so sorry you had to deal with that. i dunno what they expected if they werent being transparent about how much you'd get paid and stuff. and i think pokefarm really damaged a lot of peoples perception about how much artists should get paid in general </3 i feel like if 80% of pfq users looked at an artist's actual commission prices they'd explode

A LOT. What makes the whole thing sillier was that I had been fully willing to make some assets for free - I had a lot of free time and I was already making a whole bunch of sprites anyway. I wasn't asking because I wasn't willing to volunteer, I was asking because it's the bare minimum of information you should provide if you're asking someone to work with you.  I was pretty mad about the way that whole thing went at the time, but in retrospect I really dodged a bullet by not getting any more involved with the staff than that LMAO And yeah, not just PFQ though  not all websites are as bad about it (for example, last I was on Goatlings commission prices were pretty reasonable there) but I feel like in general, sites and games that have their own site currency tend to create these really skewed commission markets. Lots of people undersell their work to get a small amount of on-site items or currency, and buyers become used to being able to afford artwork from their digital hoard to the point that five real dollars seems unreasonable. It's like everyone on the internet is still unlearning what deviantart points did to us. |

@ robbie - yeah honestly i think its for the best LOL i used to know past staff that had been like super mistreated so.. i hope theyre not still like that cuz its been many years at this point but it's also been a couple years since i've been active on pf at all so i probably can't say much anymore. and yeah, i feel like that was exactly pf's problem with art since people arent used to trading a large amount of zc even if, that's what the art is worth...maybe its gotten better but years ago i remember people selling full pokemon drawings for like 100 zc it was terrible </3 and dont even get me started on art contests x_x

I'll check in on a different friend group and suddenly everyone's playing it) and one of my friends said, iirc, that there's been changes to the actual staff roster since then, and that it's not as bad now. I don't actually know if that's true or what things have changed, but I'd like to think things have gotten better, too. I think my friend wanted me to play it with them, but I don't think I'd get back into it even if it were for different staff at this point - I always end up sinking way too much time in online games like that, and then not getting anything else done LOL. I definitely wouldn't have time to run a forum, a Discord server, and still do any art if I started playing PF again. |

@ penn - IM GLAD IT HELPED i think it's like? the most subscribed to thread on the site?? i just checked and it has 1729 subscribers which is kind of insane tbh....i wonder if its outdated at all cuz i haven't updated it in a few years lmao
@ robbie - god same a bunch of my friends have been getting back into it recently and i'm like.. well i miss it a bit especially since i achieved so much on it *looks at my party full of melanistic umbreon* but i don't have the energy to keep up with it AND everything else i already spend time on (hi, virtupet and project sekai). it's probably for the best anyway <3 i do hope it's true about the staff being better, tho umm considering some things i've seen from my friends who play and talk about it... the userbase hasn't really improved LMAO
@ andrea - ahh the art in the first post isnt mine in case you were talking about that SORRY FOR MISLEADING YOU </3 my own art is much more simplistic haha but yes people do such a great job whenever i comm my ocs T_T and hell yeah, feel free to send an app for virtupet if you want to play too! it's very nostalgic.. and i dont think there are many acaras on it atm :thinking:
