Greetings, friends and enemies of the NIGHTCORNER! It's finally time for our annual Fall Mixchange! The Fall Mixchange is a secret santa kind of gift exchange; you'll be matched to someone else, for who you make a secret playlist based on their wishlist! Unlike the Spring Mixchange that we run earlier in the year, the Fall Mixchange is based on general prompts, not characters. So anyone can join, even if you don't have any OCs! (So tell your friends!) Schedule:- Sign-up period: Oct 1 - 7
- Matches sent out: Oct 8
- Working period: Oct 8 - 30
- Posting period: Oct 31 - Nov 6
How the game works: - After *carefully* reading the rules and information, you sign up for the event with the link to the sign-up form at the end of this post. In the form you describe a few prompts for a playlist you'd like to receive, for example, "lo-fi beats to study to" or "Halloween party music". The mods then use the form to compile your wishlist and make the matches.
- On October 8th, matches will be sent out over the forum via PM. If you're also in the discord server, you'll be pinged with a reminder, but otherwise remember to keep an eye out! You'll receive someone elses wishlist, and use it to make them a gift playlist.
- You must keep your playlist/match a secret until the posting period! If you need to ask or tell your match something, please privately message a mod so they can message your match for you, keeping your identity a secret.
- Once you have your match, you can begin working on your gift playlist. Pick one of the prompts from their wishlist, and use it to create a playlist. Some extra notes about your match's music taste will be included, but don't worry about sticking to those! They're there for inspiration and to give you a place to start looking for music, but you don't have to use them if you don't need them, and they're certainly nothing like strict guidelines. You have until and including the 30th to work on your gift.
- On October 31st and until November 6th is the posting period, during which everyone reveals their gifts! You post your gift playlist right here in this thread, tagging your match, and anywhere else you want to post the playlist (like twitter or tumblr). If you are in the discord server, you should tag your match in there as well, with a direct link to your playlist post in this thread. Likewise, you'll receive a gift playlist from the person matched to you!
- If anything comes up, please privately message a mod! If there's an issue with your match, if you won't be able to complete your playlist on time, if you have to drop out, or if you didn't receive your gift, and so on - please let a mod know ASAP. Needing an extension or even dropping out isn't generally a problem, but the sooner we know, the sooner we can start making arrangements and letting involved parties know.
You can DM me, or astraldreams , here on the forum or on discord.
Playlist guidelines:
- Your playlist should have a minimum of 8 tracks and a maximum of 40.
- Your playlist should be a YouTube playlist. You can include versions on other websites/services like Spotify alongside the YouTube playlist. Make sure your YouTube playlist is set to public or hidden, but not private. It can also be a good idea to get a friend in a different region to prooflisten to it to make sure all the videos work
- Don't include anything that your match has asked you not to include, and don't include anything that would be inappropriate or breaks the NIGHTCORNERs rules. If you're not sure if something is allowed or if your match would be comfortable with it, feel free to ask one of the mods. Otherwise, go wild.
- A cover image is optional for the Fall Mixchange, but still recommended! If you include one, make sure you have permission and properly credit any images/assets you use for it, or use your own. You can see examples of playlists with cover images in the Spring Mixchange thread from earlier this year.
- Once the posting period begins, post your gift playlist to this thread! It should include a link to the YouTube playlist, a typed up tracklist, and tag your match. You may also include links to any other place you've posted the playlist, such as Twitter or Tumblr, but the primary information should be in a post in this thread. This is for preservation - if the playlist goes down, if videos break, or if you change usernames on your socials, your match will still have a place they can find back the tracks of the playlist you made for them. You should also tag your match on discord if you are both in the discord server!

Please check your forum inbox to see who you got paired up with! If you signed up but did not receive a match, please message me ASAP and we'll figure it out! If you have any other questions, please send a message to the mod who assigned you your match :3
Now the working period of the event has begun! You will have until October 30th to work on your gift. If at any point you have questions, run into difficulties, or have to drop out, please let us know as soon as possible! The sooner we know, the easier we will be able to help or change things up.

Happy Halloween!!! The posting period has begun, so you may now start posting your finished playlists! You post them right here in this thread, and tag your match in it to make sure they see. You can then link the post in discord and tag them there as well, if you are also on discord. Please remember to include: - A typed-out tracklist! You can put it in a spoiler box if you want to preserve the surprise, though.
Please still type out the tracklist even if you included it on your cover image.
- A public Youtube link to the playlist.
Adding a Spotify playlist is fine, but include a YT version as well.
- Content warnings if applicable (videos with flashing, nsfw lyrics, etc).
Optional to include:
- A cover image! You can make these however you like, as long as you include credits for assets you've used (ex. if you use someone else's photography as background).
- Cross-posts of the playlist to social media! If you post your mix on Tumblr/Twitter/etc, you can link it in your post so that people can share it.
- Whatever else you want to include. Making posts on the internet is free.
If your playlist or post isn't quite ready yet - don't worry! The posting period runs for a full week, so you have until and including November 6th to organize and post your playlist.
If you run into any problems, please contact either me or astraldreams ! For example, if you don't think you'll be able to post your playlist before the end of the posting period and need an extension, or even if you need to drop out, we can help sort that out. You can also contact us if there is a problem with the gift playlist you've received (or not received).

It took me a bit to get around to replying because one of these playlists transformed me into a horse and I had to first learn to adjust to typing with hooves (not easy). I really like your interpretation of what a horse is btw. And I also really like the energy of the other playlist - they're both really good for vibing out to and drawing (until you get turned into a horse and have to try and hold a tablet pen with hooves).
